Non-Belief - Intro / Disrupting Assumptions

Defining
"Non-Belief"

Why do some atheists dislike the label? What is the difference between an atheistic and agnostic? Can one person simultaneously share both beliefs? What are some of the dividing lines between the two? Are these definitions problematic in any way?

Representation in Congress

There is only one member of Congress who identifies as being "unaffiliated with any religion." No Congress member has ever been an open Atheist. In fact, 89.7% of Congressional Democrats are from the Judeo-Christian tradition. 100% of Congressional Republicans are from the Judeo-Christian tradition (250 Christians, 2 Jews). The religiously unaffiliated make up 23% of the US & .2% of Congress. Check out this Pew Research Survey for more data!

Obama on
"Non-Belief"

In what ways has Obama legitimize "non-believers"? In what ways has Obama reinforced the status quo? What cultural violence is being committed here? Is there any cultural peace?
